With all this cold weather we thought it would be a good time to give you some fun ideas for activities to do at home that may help your child in school. One of our favorite learning activities is to get everyone in their bathing suits and put them in the shower with a big plastic bowl filled with cheap shaving cream and lots of plastic letters.
Tell the kids to dig around in the foam and find letters, then they get to use a spray bottle to spray off the letter until they can tell what letter it is. To jazz it up, you can add a few drops of food coloring to the bowl in the beginning and the foam changes colors as they dig! As an added bonus, when they are finished, just turn on the shower and wash them off.
Also, if the shaving cream sounds too messy, you can do this with rice, sand, or bird seed; the birdseed is best if you are going to throw it out in the yard, but it will grow weeds, so maybe put it out in a dish.
